Hi,

not sure if its a new idea, but just came to my mind to try to connect windows 10 mail client to our domino server. Of course if you use IMAP, that would be a no-brainer, but for me IMAP is not perfect solution as I often have to connect to customer's networks, where usually all internet connectivity is restricted to http/https via proxy.

Traveler has the benefit of using http or https protocol and it usually works quite well behind a firewall via proxy server. When we think about Notes Traveler, our mindset is restricted to mobile devices, but when I saw "exchange account" profile in Windows 10 Mail client setup wizard, it was a spark firing a crazy idea in my brain.

Setup was quick and easy - I have entered email address and password as prompted, than it fails of course by not finding all necessary information automatically, so I had to enter user name (that depends on how server's security has been configured, but short ID should do the trick in most cases) just to see it failing again, but now configuration wizard is finally prompting for server address. Here comes the trick - I have specified traveler's URL (for instance: https://mailserver.domainname.com/traveler) and it worked! That also enables mail account to be used in calendar and contacts apps in Windows 10. Mail is working, meeting invitations are working, address book is working without heavy Notes client.

I have just started using it yesterday, so not much experience so far (compared with my 16 years of being Domino/Notes admin and user), but it looks quite promising so far.

my best regards and Happy New Year to you all!

Robert

Mail works ok..
Calendaring.. you can read, and create simple appointments for yourself, but you cannot create a meeting. The damn SyncXML isn't friendly to anything but IBM.

Phone and tablets is all kludgy and doesn't integrate like it used to before they switched.
