Notes SmartUpgrade from 8.5.3 to 9.0.1

Hello All,

We have just upgraded the server to Domino 9.0.1 from version 8.5.3.    
                                                                        
We are now in the process of upgrading the clients from 8.5.3 to 9.0.1  
through SmartUpgrade.                                                   
                                                                        
We have always used SmartUpgrade to upgrade all clients but this time   
the process is failing.                                                 
                                                                        
Upon launching the process, the kit gets downloaded, Notes exit to      
prepare for the upgrade but then an error message is received, 'Failed  
to launch process. Error 3 : The system cannot find the path specified'.
                                                                        
We would be grateful if you could please help us determine the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How have you referenced the kit in the kit doc?
From the error, I'd guess it's on a location the user doesn't have access to. Perhaps a mapped drive that doesn't exist on the target system or a UNC path the isn't valid from the target system.

Are you using an SURUNAS package in the kit ?
Could it be the kit is not fully downloaded , have you compared the size after it gets downloaded ?

Notes SmartUpgrade from 8.5.3 to 9.0.1

Hello Manjula, 

Does the users have the rights to install Applications on their machine? If not, have you tried using Smart Upgrade Run as Admin (SURunas.exe)?

Please also review the parameter you indicated (the most common parameter used is /s /v"ALLUSERS=1 /qb+") or perhaps you are also using an unsupported OS/configuration. please see the link below for the list of supported configuration for Lotus Notes 9.0.1

Thank you for your replies.

Chad, according to SmartUpgrade log, the SURunas kit gets downloaded to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\smkits\0. But when clicking on it, I get 'Failed to launch process'. Also in the IBMNotesInstall log, I get the following :

Ronan, the kit gets fully downloaded in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SURunas4552. Upon launching the setup manually, the process gets started.

Ralph, I've always used SURunas for upgrade of all clients. So far I've not come across any problem. But I don't know if the version 9 needs some additional configuration for it to work.
