This has been an issue for Notes clients 9.0.1 or earlier.  Will IBM fix in Notes 9.0.2?

Fix sporadic format issue in IBM Notes when forwarding or replying to HTML emails

When using IBM Notes 9.0.1 or earlier you most likely noticed formatting issues sometimes occur when attempting to forward or reply to HTML emails. This occurs when the HTML email contains advanced HTML code including CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). This issue is unacceptable especially if your company is receiving HTML CSS emails from a 3rd party service that must be manually forwarded to your customers. This issue can be resolved using the workaround below, but ideally IBM (ICS) must fix it in a future Notes release.

The workaround below provides instructions for creating a Notes button which you can send to the user.  The Notes button can either be (1) pushed out as Notes Stationery to selected users via the Mailbox Stationery Manager tool - http://www.notesmail.com/MailboxStationeryManager, or (2) copy/pasted into an email which you can send to to anyone in your company who wants to use it as well.

I don't think so
I don't see an SPR referenced, but I would guess it is OIBE9LDVA9, which is not currently planned for 9.0.2. I would encourage you to log a PMR and reference that SPR.

Issue fixed in Notes 9.0.1 FP9 - SPR# MLAT9BUQC8

SPR# MLAT9BUQC8 - Retain MIME formatting when forwarding or replying to internet messages

This fix only works in the Notes Standard client and you must add to user's notes.ini file:  KeepReplyForwardMime=1

FYI

Retaining MIME formatting when forwarding or replying to internet messages

Administrators can push the notes.ini setting KeepReplyForwardMime=1 to Notes standard clients. This setting retains MIME message formatting when users reply to or forward messages received from the internet. Without this setting, MIME messages are converted to Notes Rich Text which can cause some MIME formatting to be lost.

About this task

When this setting is enabled and users respond to or forward messages from the internet, the Notes embedded browser is used to display the original messages with MIME fidelity. Users can't edit the original messages, but they can copy information from them and paste it into their responses.

This setting is not available in the Notes basic client.

Procedure
To retain MIME formatting:

  •     Upgrade mail files to at least the mail9.ntf template version provided with Notes and Domino 9.0.1 Feature Pack 8.
  •     Add the notes.ini setting KeepReplyForwardMime=1 to Notes standard clients. For convenience, push it through a Desktop Settings policy.
  •     Verify that MIME mail is enabled for the embedded browser; it is enabled by default in Notes 9:
  1.         From the Notes client, click File > Preferences
  2.         Click Basic Notes Client Configuration
  3.         In Additional options, verify that the following setting is not selected: Disable embedded browser for MIME mail.
