Hello,

One of my customers has the problem that resource owners do not receive notifications for reservation requests.

Testing with all kinds of debugging switched on results in the following lines, when sending a reservation request:

[0778:0002-1010] 07.04.2014 13:56:30,25 ProcessRnRDocs> There are 1 entry notices to process this pass
[0778:0002-1010] 07.04.2014 13:56:30,25 ProcessRnRDocs> Processing notice 0 for UNID OF674E2302:F38E7A87-ONC1257CB3:004197BA
[0778:0002-1010] 07.04.2014 13:56:30,25 ProcessRnRDocs> Processing UNID OF674E2302:F38E7A87-ONC1257CB3:004197BA for room/resource Ressource SL Presenter/Category/Site
[0778:0002-1010] 07.04.2014 13:56:30,25 ProcessRnRDocs>     Done processing (with errors). bNoKeepDoc=0, error=0803
[0778:0002-1010] 07.04.2014 13:56:30   Autoprocess: Message 004197BA for 'Ressource SL Presenter/Category/Site': Processing reservation mode=6 conflict=2 itemconflict=0 flags=0x10 apupdates=0 ghosting=0 processCancel=0 processCancelView=0
[0778:0002-1010] 07.04.2014 13:56:30   Autoprocess: Message 004197BA for 'Ressource SL Presenter/Category/Site': Error Unable to find path to server. Check that your network connection is working. If you have a working connection, go to Preferences - Notes Ports and click Trace to discover where it breaks down. (0x803) processing
[0778:0002-1010] 07.04.2014 13:56:30   RnRMgr: Error processing reservation document (UNID OF674E2302:F38E7A87-ONC1257CB3:004197BA) in database Ressourc.nsf

This means that the request has been reveiced by the Reserveration DB (Ressourc.nsf), but rnrmgr cannot process it. Routing generally works, so that I do not understand the "Error unable to find path to server".

Where does this email need to go?

Who is the recipient? To send the email to the resource (Again) does not make any sense, so the owner must be the recipient... But I can send e-mails to the recipient...

Any idea?

Background:

Two Domino Servers with 9.0 in a cluster.

Ressourc.nsf (with 9er template) is on both clustermates where rnrmgr and calconn are both enabled.

Second clustermate currently is owner (whoowns) and administration server, to which both server agree ;).

Thank you,

Manuel

Need more info
It sounds as if the core autoprocessing engine either cannot perform the required busytime lookup OR it cannot generate the response back to the requesting user (or the room owner).

I need more info to tell so Ill ask the standard starting triage questions I have:

1:  Is this a new problem or new new R&R installation?  If not new, what has changed recently?

2: Does the room have any restrictions of any kind?

3: Is the problem limited to that specific room or does it happen to multiple?  If multiple, what do they have in common?

4: Since you appear to have connectivity issues, do you see any error messages on the console when you trace to R&R server and the clustermate?  (Yes, you can trace to yourself.)

I suspect your issue lies with the server connectivity which blocks busytime or sending mail (because the mailer code checks addressing, etc).  You can get more info from the autoprocessing engine by setting CSLogAutoprocess=1 and CSReportError=1 on the server.  Once you set it, repeat your test and then see what new info gets provided.

More Info

Hi Bruce,

Thank you for your response and your thoughts.

1. This is not a new installation. The customers admin tells me, that he tried to fix a problem with busytime by replacing the resource db's template. This should not have done anything, because it had the current design, unless it were corrupt. But after this operation the described errors started occurring.

2. By restriction you mean more than the mentioned owner restrictions? The resource(s) only can be booked by owners or approved by owners respectively. There is not restriction as to how much time in the future the resource(s) can be booked. Is that, what you were asking?

3. The error happens with all rooms and resources which have the owner restrictions as stated above. It also happens to resources which have been newly created just for test purpose.

4. Trace does not give any errors. No problem connecting (to server and clustermate) at all.

The above log already had CSLogAutoprocess=1 and is inconclusive as to the error reason. I will try with CSReportError=1  also and report back.

But in the meantime the admin tells me that he created a completely new rnr db with new restricted resource and it works with them. So basically something with the resource documents must be defective. But I don't know where to look or even how to start. Any suggestion?

Thank you,

Manuel

Based on your info
I think there is still something else that changed besides simply the R&R template.  RnRMgr sending emails has no connection to the design of the R&R dB.  That ability has been there since 7.0 and has not changed.

Were there other changes made around the same time such as NAB updates or other system changes besides the R&R template getting updated?

When I ask about restrictions I meant any kind of room restriction, Room owner and/or only allowing specific people to use it.  Sometimes ownership or access is handled using groups and if there is an issue resolving a group which can cause problems.

The error reported (803) in your console output is "Unable to find path to server.  Check that your network connection is working....".  That tells me the mailer subsystem either has problems resolving the name to send to or it cannot deliver the outgoing email to the address we told it to.  Typically that means there is a NAB issue of some kind like the wrong server name or some domain info is missing.

Since you can trace to other servers from the R&R server I suspect a closer look needs to be taken at the NAB and its contents.  However I reserve the right to change that theory based on your other error output.

I can only monitor the forums intermittently so I am going to recommend you contact Technical Support to get some quality one on one time with our support team.  They can work with you and your customer to find the root cause in a timely manner compared to my monitoring the threads when I have the cycles.
