Barry, thanks for the help!  One question though, if that DB is empty, doesn't that imply that something never/isn't populating it?  If I copy the database over, that likely solves things for the moment, but couldn't that show a deeper ongoing ldap problem?

I am not sure why the documents got lost.   My suggestion is to restore and monitor the document count.  Do you see anything in the replication/usage history that might see the deletion / modification of the db?   What is the issue you are having with ldap on this server?   What happens when you do a ldap search on this server?

You can delete it and on next restart of your server it will be build again or replicated from admin server:

Only problem is when you manually created documents in the schema database.
