No, install 9.0.1 then FP2 then the Hotfix

No. 9.0.1 is the base 9.0.1 code. Then install FP2 for 9.0.1. Then install the hotfix.

From your search argument, I assume that you receive an error message stating that there are processes still running?

Once you end the server, then end the NSD service, and any backup services that might be running. Then try to install the HF.  You also could change the server and NSFD service to not start on reboot, and then reboot the machine - sometimes that works.

adding that you need to "run as Administrator" not just be in Administrators group<>
