Disable Domino Directory name lookups?

When I am typing names in TO, CC, or BCC fields in a new email, I want lookups to go through my local contacts only. I do not want the domino directory to be searched. The domino directory uses the domino-format for emails:

Name/domain

My local contacts have been setup to use the SMTP address for domino users instead:

name@domain.com

This way I send through SMTP and not within the domino domain. Any way to configure my lookups like this?

Are you using standard or basic client
In standard client, the typeahead drop down always goes local first and only when explicitly asked by the search this directory, it goes server
