Multiple Domino Server and Certificate Issues

  • Category: Domino Server

Previously we are running clustered environment and Domino servers that are also physically dispersed. Now, we are planning to separate the servers and make both as independent Domino servers. Right now, I am currently on stuck on implementing this and all requirements must be OK.

1. All email directory must be seen on both sites for easily mail collaboration
2. Both Domino servers are under same Domain and Organization but are not connected to each other (Both will be independent Domino servers)
3. If the email is located on ServerB it will route the email to ServerBand vice-versa. Else it will send to relay host connector for internet domain mails.

Possible solution?

1. Replicate the names.nsf but how to replicate the names if both sites are independent to each other?

2. & 3. I've tried to make connection settings but are experiencing the certificate errors [Failed to authenticate with server ServerA/Org. The subject's public key found in the certificate is not the one store in our ID file for that identity. Next if the mail is internet domain, it will be forwarded to a relay host connector and must be able to auto-forward mail rules.

Experiencing problem.

Certificate error, public key certificate are not identified. Do I need to have the same certificate on each site?
SMTP connection / routing is not successfully route. (possibly due to connection from ServerA -> ServerB or vice versa)

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Seperate Clustered Servers

In order to seperate the clustered servers, you must remove the servers from the cluster in the Address Book.

After the server have been removed from the cluster, they should then work as un-clustered servers... There should be nothing else needed.  If you have moved one of the servers to a new location or a new host server, ensure that the firewals are properly configured, and that each server is using an identical replica of the names.nsf.

You need to point the person docs to the correct  mail file on correct server (i assume all the users are pointed to one server)

You should delete the mail files for the users that are no longer on that server.

The admin program to move the users will assist in the process and  update the users location docs.

Don't bother with re-certifying the user id.  if access to the other server is an issue you can accomplish the thru network access or allow access groups
