Domino 9.01 64bit service on 2012R2 server is not starting using this parameters  "c:\Domino\nservice.exe"  "=c:\Domino\notes.ini" "-jc" "-c".

Error in Windows eventlog "The IBM Domino Server service terminated with the following service-specific error: %%421"

Whithout "-jc" the service starts whitout any problems.

I did reinstall Domino twice from scratch.

Does anybody know how to start the Java console ?

Thanks for any assistance

paul

Try starting as application
Run nserver -jc -c to see if it starts that way. This will isolate the problem to the service level if it works. Also, search your notes.ini for "controller" and make sure the listed IP address is correct.

Java Console

If you have checked and the controller is working as expected, but the Java Console will not launch, you may have an issue with the Java which is currently installed.  You datated that you have re-installed the Domino Server, but htat may not have repaired teh Java issue. You can un-install the server, then rename the JVM Directory in the Domino Directory, and re-install the server.  This will also create a new JVM directory and populate it with an udated version of Java

Try adding the following to your Notes.ini reboot the OS and start as a service.
Title:        Unable to start the Domino 852 server as a service and run the Java Controller on Windows 2008 R2 server.

Enable the below notes.ini parameter in the Domino server's notes.ini.

ServerController=1
TCPIP_ControllerTcpIpAddress=10.10.10.5:2050                (Change the IP to your Server IP xx.xx.xx.x:2050)

Note: 10.10.10.5 will be the IP address of the Domino server.

Did you find resolution?

Paul--

Did you find a resolution to this?  I'm having the exact same problem and modifying the notes.ini file doesn't help.  I *can* via command prompt enter the data directly, run ..\nserver.exe -jc -c and the domino server launches and the server controller runs and is accessible.  However, if I leave -jc-c in the service specification, the service will fail with the exact error you specified.

Also, this is a brand-new box with the correct java version installed by Domino, and nobody else.

Anyone else have any input on the matter?

Two possible (known) causes
  1. Installing when the Domino service has not been stopped (not applicable if it is a new install)
  2. Not running the installer as an Administrator
Does the second apply here?
