View Problem

I have a user mail file that has a strange view problem.   When viewing the inbox if the view is sorted so that the newest documents are at the top, the view is fine.   However, if you sort the mail file so that the oldest document appears first in the view then each document shows up twice.  It looks like this

If the view is resorted back to the newest message first there is only one entry for each document.

I have replaced the design of the database, run fix up on the database (no reported errors) compacted the database, and rebuild all of the views - with no change.    I even made a new replica copy of the database and still the view problem persists.I can access this mail file from multiple machines running various releases and all experience the same behaviour.   The database has been upgraded to ODS 51 and is using the standard mail template (version 9.0.1)

Any thoughts on what else I can try?

re-create inbox

I assume that document ID should be the same for each duplicated doc, so if you delete one mail from Bob, the other one should dissapear also.

 

One thing that you can try is to move all mails from the inbox to a new folder. After that, you open the database with the Designer, go to Folders and delete the inbox, then do a Replace Design to re-create the Inbox.

 

Once everything is done, you can enter the mailfile and move (not copy/paste, just drag and drop) mails from the new folder back to the Inbox.

 

You may check then if the problem is still there.
