Hello,

on a clean multiuser installation the Notes client 9.0 (OS:Win-XP pro German) crashes on start with the following error message:

NLNOTES.EXE - Application Error : The instruction at ".............." referenced memory at "..........". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

and right after a while the following msg:

Starting the Notes client as a user with administrator rights works fine on all workstations i've tested sofar, only regular users fail to start the application. After giving a user (testwise) local administration rights on his workstation, the Notes client starts as supposed to and the user can continue to the configuration part of the client. Of course this is not considered as a solution ..

I've enabled the notes.ini debug settings to get more infos about the problem but without any results. The users Notes profile and notes.ini configuration are incomplete and the files in \IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT are empty.

The only files created inside the users notes-profile are:

diagindex.nbf
frstrings.dat
ini.nbf
notes.ini
pid.nbf
ticket.idt

On the same workstations and with the same user accounts we used to run 8.5.3fp3, so nothing changed on the OS or user configuration side

Sofar i haven't found any other solution to this problem except of setting the user in the administrators group.

Regards

JT
