To site admins - duplicate posts every dang time(*)

I tried to submit web feedback but got an 'Access denied' response on submit so I'm posting here just in the off chance a site admin is skulking around.

Pretty much any time I post to this forum, the post is duplicated when I hit Save. If I edit a response, that duplicates too.

This doesn't happen in the 6/7 or 8.5 forums, just here.

I run IE 11 on a terminal server so I have no control over the browser but if it's some setting that's causing the issue, I can ask IT to modify it.

Thank you.

Doug

(*) except this time...go figure, I post to complain and get one submission. I know it happens when I respond to another post.

Use the Notes client to access the forums ;)
It's better anyway, especially if you want to paste a picture or use Rich Text, also quicker to navigate :D

Native access rules
I love to read the forums in Notes.  A local replica is easily made after you get acces via the registration system.

Just open your Notes client, go to the Notes1/NotesWeb server, and open the first db, -Notes Access Registration- and follow the prompts.

After your registerd, open the forums and create your replica's.

Or search. Search this forum on the web is terrible!

Having said that - I just opened the forum in Notes, and see quite a few [Replication or Save Conflict]s.

grr..

The only conflicts I see are by Doug Finner
So I think he will be better off using the Notes client to access the forums.

Can't use native client

I sit behind a massive firewall with only a few ports opened to the web. If I want to get one to this site, I have to go through a massive security process. We get to the web via IE running on a terminal server and I'm not allowed to install code on the TS.

So...web only allowed, guess I just generate duplicate posts which is just stupid (sorry, but I've been doing this since R4 and this has never been an issue; we move to newer 'better' versions and suddenly the forum is cluttered with duplicated crap??? No other word for this than stupid).

The early bird catches the worm
Better get started with the process then.  It'll make your life so much easier.

Some thoughts:

You can register a server ID in the -Notes Access Registration- Link db
Then the server can replicate the databases.  also gives better control over Full text indexes.
Having a server replicating a select few databases on a specific foreign sever might be easier to get through the security process than opening a port for a user. And the databases are accessible to others too. Note that they would need to register their ID personally in the -Notes Access Registration- Link db, but if they then use that ID to access your server and use the databases everything should be hunky dory.

Note that a personal registration might be done using client outside of the firewall, say on your home machine.

Kind regards,

Lars

Plus, this is a horrible foot to put forward on Web.

I dislike the restrictions of Web just as much as the next guy, BUT

People who don't know any better want to use Web browsers. And they see stuff like this and pan the product.

Updates via Notes client not making it to the web!

So, I've had the Notes client option for awhile, but I find it easier to post from the Web, and much much easier to search via the Notes client.

A couple days ago I've posted from the Notes client, and it still hasn't made it to the website!

Another grrrr....
