MACbook ventilator starts when lotus client is running

Hi !

one of our mac user has the problem, that the ventilator of the macbook starts and keep on running, when he starts the lotus client.
Sometimes he can work in the client as usual, sometimes the client is slow (delayed).
If the client will close, the ventilator stops running.

I don´t know, where the problem could be. We have other macbook users with lotus clients, without problems.

Maybe someone can give me a tip.

He´s using:
MAC OS X EL Capitan - version 10.11.6
Notes Client 9.0.1 (64bit) SHF802

Is it possible that this is the SMC?

I have a question. Are you saying that the fan runs when he starts Notes, but that if he closes the Notes client, and then restarts it, the fan does not act the same way? Is this the pattern each time he starts Notes, or an intermittent problem?

The first thing that comes to mind when the fan is running but there does not appear to be a cause for it is the SMC (System Management Controller). The following describes how to reset the SMC: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
