Database launch properties and specify what you want to open

Or create a redirect for the url you want to use...

A number of options are available...

Use a frameset instead

The best way is to create a single frame frameset, embed the form within the frame, and then set the db launch properties to launch the frameset.

This is easy

You need to make sure to go into Window, Perspective, Domino Designer, then you will find it under Shared Elements

What you are trying to do with the default form is correct. You will create a Navigator with whatever name you want.

Then you will create a Form that you want to open when you open the db called $$NavigatorTemplateDefault

Then in the database properties you set it to open the navigator and the $$NavigatorTemplateDefault will be opened instead.

The reason you have to do this, is that Domino doesn't have an option to launch a form as the default for a database.

Thank you all. I will use one of the suggested options; haven't decided which yet. Eclipse still baffles me sometimes. I thought Domino Designer was open...I was seeing all the other shared elements. Navigators are there now.

It depends on what exactly you mean by "navigator"

Short answer : they are still there, in the "Shared Elements" section of the "Applications" view (where you find your forms, views, agents etc). Don't touch unless you are dealing with a grossly antiquated legacy app.

Long answer : they are sort of deprecated. Now this is an element that I haven't seen in years, maybe since the advent of version 6.5 in, wait, was it 2005 ? I don't even know if they are suitable for the web, but I'd bet no.

As stated in another comment, the easiest way is to start with a Frameset devided in two columns. The left column contains a Page, which itself contains an Outline.

I know, I know, framesets themselves are deprecated, or at least frowned upon by the up-and coming young devs. If you wanted to be really up-to-date, you'd start with an XPage and your "navigator" would end up being a <div>
