Strange things afoot in statrep.nsf ...

  • Category: Domino Server
  • Platform: Windows
  • Release: 9.0.1
  • Role: Administrator

Here's the setup:

- Approximately 40 servers, all a mixture of physical and virtual, running a range of Domino server builds ranging from R6.5.6 (thankfully, only one of them - for a specific reason) to R9.0.1.

- Collector task enabled on one server (let's call it Server16), collecting stats from all servers in the domain every hour. Server was recently virtualised and upgraded to R9.0.1FP9.

- Servers are all in the same named network and can be resolved by DNS, so forced mail routing and replication can be initiated at the server console if required.

It's been bugging me for some time that just ONE of the servers in the pool - let's call it Server24 - doesn't appear in the statrep.nsf on Server16. I should mention that this behaviour started before it was upgraded.

Weirdly, its cluster-mate - let's call it Server24A - appears in the statrep.nsf. The Server document settings are, predictably, identical.

Any ideas?

Some questions

Do you see data for Server24 in the statrep.nsf on that server? If so, then its additions to statrep.nsf are not replicating to Server16. Is there no information about Server24 in its statrep.nsf? Is the design of statrep.nsf on Server24 older?  If you remove statrep.nsf on Server24 and allow it to be recreated, do you then see data in its statrep.nsf? Does the console.log show any issue when the event task is reloaded?

- No. There's no statrep.nsf on Server24, or Server24A. It's Server16 that's doing the collection, and it's collecting stats from the other servers without a problem.

Re: Technote

The statistics collection setting is 'all servers in the domain' - for all the other servers, statistics are being collected successfully by Server16, and the reports are being created in the staterep.nsf on Server16.

Maybe something got stuck with Server16? I'll try re-creating the databases on Server16 from scratch and see if that cures it.

Just a thought -- is the Address Book different on this server?

Sometimes I've run awry of the profile setting in the Address Book not being the "right" domain.
