Drawbacks on Load compact -REPLICA?

Hello to everyone!

A database was just showing a size, which was far to big for the documents it has in it (25GB <-8 GB). a "normal" load compact -c  didn't change anything. So i thought it would be a nice try for the new load compact -REPLICA. All went very well, but today all Documents in the database show that they were created by me on yesterday!

We have an agent which informs users, if in serveral databses any documents are changed or new. This agent  - until now - did not register any change. We share this database via repliction with another Company (different Domino-Domain) und they use the same agent to inform their users and they have been told that there are lots of changes in the database.

If this is the designed function of this new option, than i only want others to know. Otherwise: Any hints on what went wrong??

Thanks for any answer.

Sincerly

Harald

RE: Drawbacks on Load compact -REPLICA?

NEVER, NEVER, underestimate your users!

IBM, i'm sorry, that i thought this could be a drawback!

One of my users just put the results of ft-search into Edit-Mode and back. Then the updater agent, signed with my id, put some flags on the documents. Weinend

So, nothing went wrong and i was a little to fast with searching the fault in my surrounding! Perhabs i should redesign the application ...Lachend

Have a nice day and thanks to all

Harald

Copy Style Compact vs Compact Replication
As you figured out, compact replication preserves time dates just like a regular replication would....

Would be very surprised if a compact replica versus a copy style compact resulted in any significant difference in final size...  Could be the copy style compact was just not happening because the file was in use.   One of the benefits if compact replica is it can run while the source database is in use...   Be interested to know if this was not the case and you have a database that exhibits the behavior you describe.

RE: Drawbacks on Load compact -REPLICA?

You just found out one good reason why databases and agenst shoiuld never be signed by you (or any other develoepr) directly. You should create a special agent signer ID, which has access to run the agents. Then any mail notifications will be coming from that ID instead.
