~Fritz EkfoobergflarFeb 4, 2015, 2:31 PM202 PostsGreat questionThat's a great question, that more and more customers are going to have, unfortunately the answer is not as simple as the question. The first thing to thing about is what do you Notes apps do, how much code do they run on the backend, do you have agents that interact with the directory, OS file system etc. things like that. Those agents/apps will be impacted when you run them on the IBM Cloud. Secondly, do your client apps do any interaction via things like ole automation, COM etc. Not sure if the plugin even supports that kind of capability. The plugin will need to be installed and managed, it's a big plugin, it's effectively the notes client as a plugin.

~Autumn QuethipiskiodenFeb 7, 2015, 8:36 PM18 PostsIf you need offline access to the user's mail file, you're lost with NBPAs stated by IBM, NBP is not meant to replace Notes as a Browser based mail client. As soon as a user tries to open his own mail file, he is redirected to iNotes. Although one is able to create a local replica of the user's own mail file, NBP will still redirect you to iNotes. At the moment, you would need to use DOLS, which is no fun. So, if you need offline mail access, don't use NBP.
~Autumn QuethipiskiodenFeb 7, 2015, 8:40 PM18 PostsNBP does not offer any Standard (Eclipse based) functionality, you have to deal with deplo...In fact, NBP is a Notes basic client with less functionality, esp. only limited offline and mail functionality (in regards to the users own mail file). No Standard Client feature (Java views, Plugins, etc..., Sametime embedded,etc...) The look and feel of the user's mail file will be different in regards to a standard client. You have to take care about all the problems you have to deal with when deploying Lotus Notes, esp. first time configuration. As it is not easy (if not said unsupported) to modify the NBP installation package, you have to find a way to deploy a scriptable setup file if you don't want to force your users to configure the Notes client manually. If working with iNotes on one side and apps using NBP on the other side, there will be a lot of open tabs that will drive your users crazy. There is no auto-update (as you may be used to by e.g. Adobe plugins) functionality, so if there is a fix pack or new version, you have to deploy it using any means of Notes client deployment
~Pippy ElgerotexoniFeb 10, 2015, 5:48 PM2 PostsIBM CloudThank you all for your response on NBP! Any idea how Notes databases work on IBM Cloud ? Are there any limitations of that ? do they work without any modifications ?
