Hi there,

We currently have Domino 9.0.1 here and we want to use the out of office service. (We are actually using the out of office agent)

Our problem is that we have some users who are still using Lotus Notes 7 and its template and who will not update their clients.

On a tech note (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/library/notes8-ooo/) , we read that "In Lotus Notes and Domino 8, the enhanced LotusScript agent still exists in the Notes mail template for backward compatibility."
The tech note also says that there might be problems if the servers are clustered with Domino 7 servers but it does not mention the case of a Lotus Notes 7 client using the OOO.

We want to be sure that the out of office will continue to work correctly for the users who are still using the old clients.

Do any of you have the OOO service enabled on a 8.5 or later server but some users on outdated clients (7 or 6.5)?

Does the OOO work for these users on outdated clients?

What are the issues you encountered for these users if any?

Kind regards,

Nad

There shouldn't be any issues with this set up
The issue with the ND7 servers and the OOS are because as the router delivers the mail to the mail file,  that is when the service kicks in.  The routers on the ND7 servers do not know about the service, so if we failed over to a ND7 server,  those users with the OOS enabled would not have replies sent.   There shouldn't be any issues with using older clients using the agent though.  The Out of office goes through a series of checks to see what to enable,  the service or the agent.  If we are enabling the OOO from a Notes client prior to ND8.0  or in a mail file that based on a template that is older than ND8,  we will default to using the agent.  Those users that are on the correct versions of the client and mail template will get the service.
