Traveler on Android 4.4 KitKat with Hangouts SMS

I have the Nexus 5 and it comes with Android 4.4 which means it does not use the standard Android SMS app, it uses Google Hangouts as the SMS client.  So when I receive emails in Traveler, the magic SMS message that tells Traveler to go get email, is showing up in Hangouts.  The is obviously NOT a good thing as the normal behavior would be for the SMS to be "delivered" to the device and the user never sees it.  Has anyone else seen this behavior and if so, any solutions (alternative SMS apps)?  Thanks!

Traveler on Android 4.4 KitKat with Hangouts SMS

The problem is Google has changed they way SMS is handled now by a default app. Traveler does see the message, but it can't take ownership of the store and keep them from showing.

This is why it's showing up in what ever SMS app you use. I've been submitting feedback to Google about this and that they have Hangouts ignore this push message.

In the meantime, I basically tap and hold on the SMS Hangout and tap the bell icon at the top to turn off notifications so I don't have to clear them all the time along with checking my mail.

Thanks

Yeah I just tried Handcent before i read the reply.  It does the same thing.  Why oh why Google?!  So it's either continue to delete those annoying messages or burn through your battery.

Very annoying

Will there be soon a solution to this as i am guessing that this new way of handling SMS will probably become a standard ?

Traveler 9.0.2 ? 9.1 ?

Android 4.4 KitKat breaks Traveler SMS notifications

Same issue here, and also searching for a fix.  I've had several user's phones "upgrade" themselves to KitKat and suddenly start having the SMS client app receive one IBM notification text for every email they send/receive.  For those users I've disabled the SMS updating and reverted back to dumb "sync every 15 minutes" mode -- which is a big step back in functionality.  The users are dealing with it (they have no choice), but it's removed the shine from the Android Traveler app and turned it into something that now cannot be relied upon for time-sensitive email communication.

Anyone know if there is a version of Traveler on the horizon intended to fix this?
