Hi there,

1. Installed dictionaries does not appear in in the instant spell check dictionary selection.

Yes, I refer to the Primary Dictionary list in spell check preference pane.  I installed svensk.dic (Swedish) that is save on our server since version 8.5.

If there is and .dic language package for all languages and version 9 then I'd be very happy to download it.

2. Yes I mean that I can't enable "Language" in toolbar list. Performing the highly non-logical recommendation you sent actually allowed me to enable it. What I did was: View->Toolbar, the menu item "Show Toolbars Only When Editing" and uncheck it.
Then I selected "Language" and then again checked "Show Toolbars Only When Editing" and the Language option is still there.

The "Language" option is however still not showing as an valid option under Toolbars in the preference menu. Very unlogic as well. Especially as it's and toolbar component and it's been listed there for years.

But thank you for at least giving me this work-around option to enable the Lanuage option. Looking forward to get help regarding language "svensk". This is what is happening when trying to spell check Swedish.

Best regards

Rasmus

my analysis
Hello,

From the first snapshot you attached, the Swedish is shown in Primary Dictionary list of spell preference pane, which means it has been installed already.  However, in second image, the spell on Swedish does not work as your expected.  Furthermore, I guess if you set Swedish as Default in preference, it will work for your document.

The reason of this case is, from version 8.5.1, Notes client implemented a new spell checking engine called XTAF(Extended Text Analysis Framework), then the "old" spell checking engine is called traditional spell checking.  The XTAF engine uses XTAF dictionary, it can't load traditional dictionary, by the way, the svensk.dic you used is just the traditional one.  We recommend customer to use XTAF engine and dictionary, however users can still use traditional spell in Notes client for compatibility consideration.  But, the XTAF can't run with traditional one at same time, that means if XTAF on a language is working, Notes can only switch language dictionaries among those XTAF dictionaries but not traditional dictionaries.  Running with traditional spell could not switch to XTAF either.  How to decide the spell engine type that running?  The answer is default language dictionary.  The Primary Dictionary list contains all dictionaries installed in Notes, both XTAF and traditional, if both dictionaries for one language are installed, XTAF is preferred.
Thus, I believe in your case, the default language, English (United States), is XTAF one.

To fix the issue, you can:
1. Install XTAF Swedish dictionary
2. Set Swedish as default in preference
3. Force using traditional spell always, you can set "SPELL_FORCE_LEGACY=1" in notes.ini and restart Notes client.

For each Notes client release, we will deliver 2 packages for dictionaries, one for XTAF, the other for traditional, each one contains all languages we supported.  For version 9.0, the part number for XTAF package (Windows) is CIF0EML, the part number for traditional package is CII88ML, you can find them on Notes install CD or download them from Passport Online http://www-306.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/passportadvantage/index.html.
