Routing incoming SMTP mail for another organization

Hi there

I have a question about routing incoming SMTP mail for another organization.

Let's consider we have a Domino server for organization ABC with SMTP domain abc.com

Then we have another Domino server for organization XYZ with SMTP domain xyz.com

Both organizations have been cross certified and had been set up with connection documents so they can communicate.

We don't want organization XYZ to receive incoming SMTP mail directly from Internet, but instead we want the Domino server from organization ABC to receive SMTP mail sent to xyz.com and then this server will send the mail to XYZ organization Domino server using Notes protocol.

I've set up global domain document for xyz.com in ABC organization server, but then incoming mail for zyx.com is "...rejected for policy reasons. Relays from host denied in your configuration." and that happens because the server can't find the XYZ organization users in their directories. I ended copying and pasting in a secondary directory of ABC organization server the user documents from XYZ organization server. That way mail directed to xyz.com flows well from ABC organization to XYZ organization. But that method is not a good solution, because if/when new users are added, deleted or modified in organization server XYZ, we need to manually repeat the copy+paste of user documents from XYZ to ABC.

I've been tinkering with adjacent domains, foreign domain, etc. but I always end with the issue of the server being unable to find the users from XYZ. Isn't any way to tell a Domino server to "pass away" the mail from xyz.com to another server without enforcing the relay mail rules for that domain?

Thanks in advance

Directory Catalog?

A directory catalog is an aggregate of address books for multiple domains, which is regularly kept up to date by the server. Creating 1 Directory Catalog for both your domains (and then levereging it for lookup)  could help with the lookup issues you are having here.

You will also require an adjacent domain doc and a connection doc between the two domain mail hubs.
