View Not Refreshing nor Indicator Showing

Hi all,

I have a couple of views in a fairly simple DB which don't seem to be showing new documents nor the refresh indicator.

1 view has 'Refresh Display' and the other 'Display Indicator'.

Someone adds a new document but my view doesn't update nor the other one show the indicator.

F9 updates the view and new document is then visible.

Not sure if this has been a long standing issue as I have only noticed it recently after I amended the selection formulas. They used @Today and @Yesterday and seemed to be constantly refreshing - down to the fact I believe they store time as well to the second, hence always out of date - and it was becoming an issue for users getting 'blue circle' and hanging client.

I implemented a daily agent to substitute actual date in place of @Today etc .....

Could this be causing my refresh issues .. ? Although I don't see how really.

Any help gratefully received as I am a bit perplexed currently. I have advised users to press F9 if they leave the DB open all the time.

Many thnaks

Andy

Implementation?
"I implemented a daily agent to substitute actual date in place of @Today etc ..... "

I'm curious what you mean by this. Can you provide some details of your implementation?

Also, are these databases local or on the server?

View refresh
Please confirm whether  'Advanced' panel has  refresh field 'Auto, after first use' selected or not.

Regarding points raised ....

Hi.

'Auto after first use is set'. If I have the view in question open and someone adds a document, what is the realistic time scale for the view I have open to refresh by itself and show the newly added document .. ?

Maybe I'm just being impatient ..!

Regarding the formula ... database is on the server. We have a very large database here - over 14GB - which was maintained by an external IT company, along with all other apps, prior to my arrival to take over development and maintenace in-house.

They added in a nighlty agent to act on numerous views to replace @Today, :@Yesterday etc ... with hard coded date in format of [15/04/2014].

This is deemed to speed up the view refresh and display.

As my view had constant refresh symbol and blue circle freezing happening almost constantly, I added in similar routine and now there is no constant refresh symbol nor blue circle. Happy users ..!! As numerous people kept the offending DB open in the background and then complained when MS Word froze with blue circle. It was the Notes DB in the background locking everything up it seems.

I will monitor again today and see how it performs.

Thanks for the replies.

Andy

questions
Not sure if we are chasing a NIF/view issue or a notes client display issue other other.

1) To clarify,  If you hit F9 (as opposed to shift F9) the view does refresh?

2) If you close and re-open the view after a doc is added does the view properly refresh?

3) If instead of 1) you goto the command prompt and run updall <dbname>  does the view properly refresh or show the display indicator?

It is not clear how the formula is working....how is that implemented?

Seems OK now .....

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the response.

Just done some more testing with open views and it would appear all is well.

I did shift-F9 this morning so maybe an index issue.

Will check again tomorrow and report back.

Refresh is not instant so maybe I'm just being impatient .... but new documents appeared without any intervention by me, as you would expect.

Thanks again.
