Policies

Certain customers, who shalll remain nameless, don't like the delegation model for their PA's. They need PA's to be able to send out messages, invites etc as the VIP that they are representing.

To this end they insist on switching to a copy of the VIPs ID.

Consequently issues arise with the syncronisation of contact data, which of course is enabled and enforced via the policy

I had hoped that the machine specific policy options would allow me to create a policy for the VIPs that says when they connect from specific machines, i.e. the PA's machines, that contact synchronsiation would be disabled.

However the Machine Specific policy settings seem to be limited in scope to the creation of local mail file replicas only.

Is there anything in the Notes 9.x policy infrastructure that could alleviate this problem?

Logging

Is there any logging that can be applied either server side or client side that could create a document listing the changes made at each client during a policy refresh, and from which settings document(s) those changes have been applied.

For example

  • "Enabled Double 'Right Click to close window' from [DESKTOP] settings document 'Default_Notes_9_DesktopSettings'
  • "Applied the setting 'Everyone may see your schedule information' from [MAIL] settings document 'HQ_Notes_9_MailSettings'

Alternatively a feature to mail in client side policy update logs to a db similiar to the fault reports database would be advantageous in a future release.

Limit Mail Size on Client Side

Is there any way to use policies to enforce a limit on mail size? I know that this limit can be enforced at the router on the server, but by this time, the email has transferred to the server.

Ideally, I would like a policy whereby a user was warned if they attempted to send a message over x MB (are you sure you want to send this message, it may take a long time to send) and that would not let them send at all if it were over x MB. (the message you are sending is over ___ MB, and can not be sent.  Please remove some attachments and try again)

Is this possible?

Thanks

Sam

Template change...
You can add some code in the template to handle this (I believe the OpenNTF Mail Experience has some of this code), although I agree wholeheartedly that this should be part of the core code in the policy to enforce this prior to sending the emails. Third-party desktop solutions (such as Desktop Manager) also have this functionality to enforce attachment size limit at the client level.

Mail Inbox Maintenance

Is there any way to configure Mail Inbox Maintenance so that emails are moved to a different folder ('recent inbox') rather then just removed from inbox?

Mailsize

Hi,

when you create a server rule in your configuration document (document > 100000bytes > do not accept), the user get a popup when he wants to send the message that tells him, that the message size exceed.

Regards

Christoph
