Max document in folder/inbox

Is there is a limit to the number of documents/emails that can be viewd in a folder.

I have a user who can see new emails in his All Documents but not his Inbox. I seem to remember there was a limit on the number of documents in a folder but can find any reference in Notes 9.0.n

Thanks

There is a limit, but no hard limit other than size restrictions on some ofthe data struct...
Are you certain that there aren't 2 inbox folders ? I believe the designer will show if there are 2 (I always use our dev tools to check, but I've seen customers use designer somehow). Similar symptom if there are multiple inbox folders.

Sounds mail design is corrupted somehow
Check to see if there are two Inbox folders in his mail file, and re-apply your mail template if needed.

The max number of docs in a folder is extremely large.

I believe I saw something indicating it's around 100 million -- but the folder simply won't open in that amount of time if you've *added* that many docs at once.

As others say it's likely there's an issue with duplicate names for the $Inbox alias. There are plenty of ways to check this, with varying reliability.

I'd say try to find it per Designer, and rename the duplicate if you find it. Remove the alias if it's an aliased folder or view.

If you don't find it, access control can limit the visibility of views & folders. To make absolutely sure there are no false negatives, you'll need a look at the design while in Administrator mode.

Cut and past the folder in designer resolved the issue ....

Thanks for the replies.

There was no second Inbox in the designer.

Refreshing the design did not resolve (I think as the design did not notice a change to the folder so was not refreshed). Cut and past the folder in designer resolved the issue, but removed all documents from the in-box which a positive side affect as far as the user was concerned! (All documents were still available through the All Doccuments view)

thanks

Replace with a lower level mail template...

Just a tip - whenever I've had similar issues that a simple 'replace the mailfile design' doesn't resolve, I then replace the design with an older mail template, then replace it again with the current design.

That way all elements get updated, and the folders retain their contents.
