Domino 9.0.1 FP6

Looking at what is involved in the Fix Pack at this time, it does not look like you will need to upgrade your JAVA to instal the Fix Pack

Domino 9.0.1FP6 and Java

Actually it's that that I feared that I would lose Java 6 support.  I was HOPING that I would lose Java 6 support and would gain Java 7.  I would really like it to work on a machine which did not even have jdk6 loaded on it.

IBM i 7.3 will require Domino 9.0.1FP6 (or higher)

IBM i 7.3 will require Domino 9.0.1FP6 or higher to run.
Since IBM i 7.3 will not support Java 6 this goes to say that Domino 9.0.1FP6 will not require Java 6.

For confirmation you can check out:
IBM i 7.3 Software Upgrade Planning
http://www-947.ibm.com/systems/support/i/planning/upgrade/v7r3/software.html
<snip>
Upgrade to 5733-LD9 IBM Domino 9.0.1 Fix Pack 6, when available.  Refer to the Collaboration and Social(Lotus) Software for IBM i Compatibility Guide for other Collaboration and Social software supported on IBM i 7.3.
</snip>
Check out the compatibility guide.

As soon as I can download 9.0.1FP6 I will do so and get it running on one of my IBM i 7.2 lpars.
Then I will remove JDK6 and start them back up and see if they continue to run.
FP5 will not support the http task or the console command "show jvm" if JDK 6 is not loaded on your system, irregardless of how you have the JAVA_HOME setting.
If FP6 truly fixes that, then I will upgrade them to IBM i 7.3.
