HKLM ZoneMap ProtocolDefaults for notes not being created

Hi

I am installing Notes 9.0.1 on Windows 8.1 Update and have found that the registry item for HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\ProtocolDefaults which configures the notes protocol for the TrustedSites zone is not being set. The installation log shows:

SFC: The following entry was not added, because its key is protected by Windows: Key: \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\ProtocolDefaults Name: notes

The key has the default permissioning allowing only TrustedInstaller access.

This shouldn't be an issue because the same value is written to the HKCU hive however in our environment Internet Explorer is configured by group policy to use only machine security zone settings. This means the HKCU entries are ignored and because the HKLM value doesn't exist notes:home is classified in the Internet zone.

Has anyone else encountered this issue and is there a solution?

Known issue we are working on.
Hi Stuart, we have run into this issue at another customer as well, and are actively working on resolving this.  We are currently testing a solution, and if you would like, we could send you a test tool which will add these keys and then have Notes Browser Plug-in work correctly.  Once we validate this tool, the same code will be added to the Notes Browser Plug-in installer.  If you would like to help us validate this tool, please reach out to me so we can send this to you.  Just send me an email at rajpatil@in.ibm.com.  Thanks -- Raj
