Hide Search Toolbar

In Notes 9, there is now a black toolbar at the top, above the tabs and below the menu. Here is what it looks like. This thing is useless and just takes up space. Is there any way to hide it?

I don't think it can be hidden, but why is it useless?

Have you disabled the different search options in the drop down so you can't search mail etc? A lot of people use it as a quick way to find something in their email.

Notes 8 Theme

If you like the old layout, go to File- Preferences- Windows and Themes. You can switch to Notes 8 theme. After restarting the client, the toolbars are consolidated and it's no longer a separate bar.

Then, if that's not enough you can also right-click near and deselect the search window. Then you can get rid of the shortcuts one at a time by View-Show Shortcut Buttons and deselect each one. At that point, you've basically got the complete Notes 8.5 look'n'feel.
