Does the latest version of Domino support the use of Domain Keys?

Our ERP system runs on an AS400 which routes mail to a basic smtp server and then on to our Domino server that route out to the internet.

Mid May mail from this system started being blocked and classified as spam. Yet messages generated from the same Domino servers that was relaying these messages were not affected.

We've been unable to determine what was being flagged as spammy in these messages.  They are basic text and would have a pdf attached.

We implemented SPF records, and I was able to determine that many of our customers use McAfee's mail scan service, and were not receiving our messages.  In most cases, delivery failures weren't being generated.

Trying to get someone at the affected recipient sites to assist was near impossible.  I was finally able to get McAfee to look into it and they made a change allowing for our messages to flow normally.

Along with an SPF record, it's recommended that a company have a DKIM record as authentication for receiving servers as not all will check an SPF record.  However I'm unable to find out if a) Domino supports a DKIM record and b) how to set it up for Domino.

Thanks,

Pam

No.

SPF, DKIM, and other similar methods are not compulsory for mail to be accepted and delivered. Services or people that force senders to implement such techniques are making a mistake (or they're simply ignorant about the standards).

Up until now Domino does not support DKIM (nor SPF check for receiving). I've read it in some SPR that Domino's development plan doesn't include these enhancements in the foreseen future.

My suggestion would be to have someone develop a Domino plug-in for you to achieve the required functionality (one-time payment), or route your mail through a 3rd party service that offers such features (monthly or annual payment).

But always remember that the implementation of SPF or DKIM is not compulsory in the standard, and try to educate the mistaken ones about it.
