The AUTOPOP task either does not exist or does not accept "Tell" commands.

After updating to Domino 9.0.1FP1IF1 to Domino 9.0.1FP2 command "tell autopop process" reported error "The AUTOPOP Either task does not exist or does not accept" Tell "commands."
Scheduled to run auto-populated based on the value in the Directory Profile works properly and auto-populated groups are updated.

What might be wrong?

two questions
1) Is this error coming out on your admin server?
2)  Is the Update process running?  If so, how many (you can have more than one running)?

You can set debug_autopop=1 to get debug output.

This tripped me up the other day too - it's annoying because it would not have been hard for IBM to put a friendlier message on the screen.

In my case I was trying to run the task on a server that was not the Admin server for the domain - would be an easy error to point out to a user

Also setting debug_autopop=2

Gives loads of useful information, but only if you actually get Autopop to run,  so check step 1 again.

Lastly as autopop is built as the result of an LDAP query, wouldn't it be great if we could just add our own queries into the group definition?
