Does IHS work on Windows 64 Bit

Like many of your we are about to panic as our SSL 3.0 certificates soon won't be supported by many browsers. We want to move to TLS - which Domino currently does not natively support and about  which we await a statement from IBM.

I undertand that with most Domino OS versions we  can not implement IHS in order to move to TLS. The documentation that I have see says that its only for Windows servers. I have seen some posts that say its only for Windows 32 bit servers and others who seem to say they got it working with 64 Bit.

What is the official answer? Can IHS work with Domino 9 on a Windows 2012 Server 64 Bit OS?

Thank You

TBR

Yes
Although the version of IHS bundled with Domino is 32-bit, it works with 32-bit or 64-bit Domino on 32-bit or 64-bit Windows.

More IHS questions regarding certificate
Can we simply re-use the .kyr certificate we are using with Domino HTTP now when we switch to IHS? Or do we have to request another certificate from our certificate authority (Thawte is our case)?

using existing certificates

Yes,

the hard way is to use gsk5-ikeyman:

I have no idea why it doesn't work with the ikeyman on the domino machine. The gsk5-ikeyman only works on win32 machines, you should use winxp SP2... There are some tricks to let it run on win7, but only 32bit (--> google)

Another way is to reimport the original certifications in ikeyman.

IHS limitations

IHS is working on Windows 64bit. No problem here.

But IHS itself is a bag of hurt, as it has some unacceptable limitations.

1.) You can't install a Domino utility server with IHS. You can only install IHS when you choose "Customize server" at Domino installation. And then it is a Domino Enterprise server. So if you have licenses for an Utility server only, you're pissed off.

2.) Windows Single Sign-On won't work any more. IHS breaks SPNEGO.

3.) IHS is only a reverse proxy. So it handles incoming connections only. Outgoing connections (e.g. webservices) are still limited to SSL 3.0.

So it is absolutely inevitable to have TLS support directly in Domino server.

Come on IBM, you already had 15 years to implement TLS in Domino!!!
