Unable to set IE as default browser

Issue with Notes Client not using the O/S default browser.

- Running Windows Server 2012 R2 and Notes Client 9.0.1FP4 with the following browsers installed: Internet Explorer 11, Chrome and FireFox.

- Notes Client are configured to use the default browser set by the O/S. Initially, IE is the default browser.

- The users then set FireFox or Chrome as the default browser.

- Links in the Notes Client open FF or Chrome with no problems.

However, if the user then changes from FF/Chrome to IE as the default browser:

- Links in the Notes Client does not open in IE

- Links are opened using either FF/Chrome (depending on which one was the last default browser before IE was made default).

Bug has been logged with IBM as a PMR, but they don't have any plans to resolve this - unless more clients log a PMR in relation to this issue.

Registry issue

It is a registry issue - the Notes Client isn't reading/viewing the correct registry settings.

Getting the user to change the registry settings isn't an option - users don't have the option to fiddle around with the registry settings.

Notes 9.01 Windows 10 sometimes default browser used sometimes not

I tried a few things to change the Notes default browser by the "Edit Location" option, set it to Firefox, set it to Mozilla and pointed to where firefox.exe was stored.   What I found was sometimes it would load up Firefox and sometimes MS IE browser depending on the email where I am clicking url links.

Anyone know what I could check to correct this.   Very very irritating.
