9.0.1.1 Upgrade (Domino/Tasks Running?)

I am encountering an issue with the incremental installer (9.0.1 to 9/0.1.1) on Windows. When I click the executable, a dialog pops up warning that some Domino/Notes processes are running. You can only click OK and the process ends. I checked to ensure that no server or client programs (or rogue processes) were running and even restarted the server with services disabled. Any ideas? Is there a non-Domino/Notes process that also must be terminated (e.g. Java...)? If so, it would be a first time for me. Thanks for any assistance. I was able to upgrade our other platforms w/o problems.

Do you use Backup Exec?

If so, Backup Exec services must be stopped.

Same would probably be true of any other backup programs that you might be running...

Mark, thanks for your response. The primary purpose of the server is to run Traveler. I'll check just in case but am not sure why Backup Exec would be running.

9.0.1.1 Upgrade (Domino/Tasks Running?) - WMI

Thanks everyone. Yes I'm running as a administrator and made sure the NSD service (IBM Diag..) was stopped. I'll check the WMI but have never ended this service before.

Update: WMI was the issue. Interesting... have never stopped this in the past.

WMI service
For Domino upgrade there is a SPR the WMI service need to be stopped. You can check by installing/upgrading in Windows safe mode.

This error can occur if the install process is unable to write to certain *.dll files.

You can use the following steps to correct the problem. By replacing the nnotes.dll and nstrings.dll files with a new copy, you correct the write problem.

Steps:

1. Search for the nnotes.dll and nstrings.dll files. By default, these files are located in the Domino program directory.

2. Copy the nnotes.dll and nstrings.dll files to your local workstation's desktop.

2. Rename the nnotes.dll file in the Domino program directory (for example, C:\lotus\Domino) to nnotes.old.

3. Rename the nstrings.dll file in the Domino program directory (for example, C:\lotus\Domino) to nstrings.old.

4. Copy the nnotes.dll and nstrings.dll from your desktop (from Step 1) to the Domino program directory (for example, C:\lotus\Domino).
