Domino doesn't start after upgrade from 8.5.3 to 9.0 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a problem with a Domino server running version 8.5.3 FP1 64-bit which I upgraded to version 9.0 64-bit. After the upgrade, the Domino service doesn't start. In the Windows taskmanager I can see the nservice.exe appearing and after a few seconds it disappears and nothing else happens. The console log is also empty. It is installed on Windows Server 2008 R2.

Now I reverted back to 8.5.3 which now runs fine. Has anybody seen such a problem before? I couldn't find anything in the forum here nor could I find any hint in the IBM knowledgebase.

Thanks for any help.

Regards,

Michael

ServerController Address
Although I haven't seen this when upgrading to 9.0, I have seen it with various upgrades in the 8.5.x range. Sometimes after an upgrade, Domino won't start when it can't bind the TCPIP Controller address. Take a look at the console.log file when trying to start the 9.0 server and it may give you some clues. But you may just want to ensure that the following values are set ahead of time:

ServerController=1
TCPIP_ControllerTcpIpAddress=1.2.3.4:2050

solved

Thank you, the Notes.ini entry for the server controller solved my problem.
