alarm/mail notification on shared calendar

We have a calendar shared database.  When user A puts an entry in to the database, we would like either mail notification or alarm to show up on other users Lotus Notes.

Federated calendar would work but notification will not.  Unless having a dedicated workstation with client running all the time under this shared database, is there any other way this can be accomplished...

I have also looked into simple agent as well but no luck..

Can't

The notification works off what is listed in location doc.  A kluge would be for agent to send others email of the new document with a doc link.
