How to get ride of Shortcut Buttons Toolbar

Hello,

I have unchecked each button using View => Show Shortcut Buttons. However, the shortcut buttons bar still appears with an email and "search all mail" even though I am using the old Notes workspace. I want to get ride of the shortcut buttons bar altogether. In this manner I can save some of my screen space since I just want to use the toolbars. Is that possible?
