Double Log in Prompts and Logout Error

I have a frameset setup with an outline menu on the left and the view pane on the right.

Users have to login once to pull up the main screen.  When they click on the mail link on my outline, mail is pulled up on the right frame but they are prompted to log in again.  No other databases require a double login.

When users click the logout button, the logout screen is loaded on the left instead of refreshing the entire page and logging the user out.  Why is this?

Is the Domino server using basic authentication?  If it is and the mail file is in a different directory that the original database, you will be prompted to authenticate when you change realms.  Using single server session authentication should resolve that.  If the mail file is on a different Domino server, then you would want to look at using multiple server sso session authentication so that the credentials are passed to the other server in an ltpatoken
