64 bit ODBC Issues

We have a working 32 bit ODBC configuration, pulling data from a NSF on a domino Server via an sql statement using the ODBC Driver.

We are now upgrading the software that runs the SQL statement (to a new 64 bit version) and have been told that it requires the 64 bit ODBC driver [this we have questioned , but waiting confirmation].

We have configured the 64 bit ODBC driver on a test server [installed a domino Server and disabled its services, in place of a Notes Client].

All seems to look good, except the SQL keeps returning a 'unable to find path to server' error.

We even started up the Domino Server on the ODBC test server and can trace to the server where the NSF is.

When we configure the ODBC Connection, we get the list of databases populated.

We have the Path set in the environment variables and in the Registry.

Does anyone have any ideas what we are missing ?

Many thanks for any constructive suggestions.

May have solved it - but don't fully understand why !

We have managed to get the test ODBC to work.

We removed User Name and password from the ODBC Configuration and removed the User Name and Password from the SQL Statement.  This resulted in a successful import of data into the test SQL table.

We had tried various combinations of User Name and Server Name, then out of desperation, decided to try with none.

This is now working, but we have to admit, we don't quite understand why !

Hm. I'd be interested in your connection configuration

Are you using tnsnames.ora to track down the Oracle server? It may need to be found along some path, or stored in a new directory.

It might work this way due to some "default" ability to track down things, but I would worry it's not making a secure connection.
