Subject: Notes Single Logon - Problem Identified
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes 8 Client
Technical Area: Security
Platform: Not Applicable
Release: 8.0.2
Reproducible: Always

Thought this worth posting in case otehr have come across the same issue.

We use Notes 8.0.2 Basic and the Single Logon service. Every so often we get user reports that they have changed their Windows password and are locked out of their Notes client. the only fix is to us the 'Recovery' password or use a repalcement ID from our backup repository. What we have now identifed is that this happen if the user tries to set a new Windows password and the complexity is not enough so the password change is rejected. But this first password is being recorded by Notes. subsequently, when the user has selected a suitable password they cannot access Notes and can't remember the first bad password they tried, hence no access.

I must also add that we have no password quality set on the Notes password. The idea here being that Windows is tha master and pushed the new password to Notes.

To overcome this problem we are looking at setting an equivalent password quality in the Notes policy settings os hopefully a bad Windows password will not be saved for use by Notes.
