Easiest path to acceptance

Unless IBM is committed to rolling out support for new platforms in a timely manner *and* is positive that they will always have access to lower levels of a device's OS so that they can implement the support, this can only be a good thing.

Let's take the Palm Pre for example. Nevermind that this device will (hopefully) be on the market before 8.5.1, theoretically it would work w/ Notes/Domino right out of the box.

Especially for smaller shops that don't want to invest in a BES infrastructure, this out of box functionality without having to push down a Traveler-specific / client-side piece of middleware to the device is key.
