Can I "downgrade" an ID with multiple passwords back to its original, single password?

HCL Notes/Domino 8.5 Forum (includes Notes Traveler)

I tried downgrading an OU certifier with multiple passwords back to only its original, single password so that it would work with NotesRegistration.RegisterNewUser, but could not seem to find a place to do so. Is this possible?
