The main reason is because after upgrading from Notes 7.x to the standard version using the standard upgrade procedure it would crash in a deterministic way, on both the most actual versions 10.5 and 10.6.
Then with luck I managed to get a basic version running on several Macs. In this context I wish to stress that the uninstall procedure as documented by Lotus IBM would not work properly, there would always be some garbage left somewhere which would prevent a real clean reinstall. So in the end I had to reinstall the OS on some machines to be able to have a Notes Client running in a stable manner.
The experience we made after upgrading to Lion on some machines was less than encouraging. So for now, if we want to have stable Notes Clients, we have to stick to 10.6
Besides, the standard version eats up a lot of HD space and live memory for things we do not use and do not intend to use, and the complete change of interface brings about a massive loss of productivity before getting used to it, and we saw, and still do not see any real benefit for us from it. We feel It is just to stuffy for the "simple" things we do. So we will not go for the standard version unless we will have to.
