Subject: Move Domino 8.5 to a New Server
Feedback Type: Question
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Install
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.2
Reproducible: Not applicable

Hi

I am looking to move Domino to a new server. We have around 200GB worth of databases / mail files. Move is from Win 2008R2 to Win 2008R2.

The move is to a remote server so moving the files will take some time, more downtime than I can really afford.

I am hoping to make a replica on the new server of all the db's. Once that is there is it OK to use those replica mail files as the actual db's?

I plan to move the replica's to new server, uninstall Domino on the new server, reinstall it then add these replicas to the /data directory. All the other relevant files for the migration I will move over at time of migration but hoping I can use the replicas as the db's so I have them there ahead of time and minimize downtime in the process.

Any comments / suggestions?
