Installed Notes Client 8.51 on Windows 2008 Terminal Server for several users.
But, we have had problems with the installation related to ole and notes client crashes. When we start Notes Client with "C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\notes\notes.exe" =u:\notes\notes.ini where u is the mapped user drive everything works properly except any ole object. (Attached launches work fine.) The notes client crashes when launching any ole object. But if we start the notes client without the redirected ini file, ole works, but everyone is sharing the same ini file. Which causes problems, especially related to the key file, the user.id. We are working around this by naming all the user files the same, u:\notes\user.id. The same file name works, because they are all in different mapped directories. But external programs, like Adobe PDF, that call the mail client, use the last update name of a person in the ini file which causes problems, i.e. does not work.
I need to understand the difference with ole related to mapping the ini drive to the user drive relative to not mapping it at all and using the default ini in the notes install directory.
We have tried so many different ways to "trick" the system, but we cannot get past this.
Another key piece of information, if we use the short cut with the redirected ini to the user, AND open excel or 123 in another windows, AND THEN launch an ole excel or 123, it works. So I could go forward and tell my users to launch the target program before opening up the ole Notes document, but that just aint right. But it does work. And in this scenario, they are using their own ini so mail/etc works properly.
WE are so close to having a complete install. Anybody out there know how to fix?
