Workaround...

Some fonts are disabled on Mac OS version 10.5.4, which may cause unintelligible characters to be shown in the MIME mail with specific language characters. To work around this issue, copy all the files in the <user>/Library/Fonts_Disabled directory to <user>/Library/Fonts to enable all the fonts.
