What is the official stance for data folder location ?

This document says to put notes data files on a file server and access through Windows terminal services. (p43)

Does it contradict the note below ?
Is running Client Notes.ini and/or Notes Data directory on a File Server a supported configuration?

Is notes accessing data folder on a file server a supported/recommended configuration ?
If not, what are the best practice to ensure a user gets the same notes inteface no matter which XenApp server in the farm he is logged to ?
