Resolution

I think I finally figured this one out.

I was able to successfully install Domino 8.5 on two other machines. I think the issue is that the machine I was going to use for the server had an old 900 MHz AMD Duron CPU. I wonder if Domino is compiled to use instructions not supported on that processor...

I have swapped the hardware out for a machine with an AMD Sempron. Domino 8.5 comes up fine on a new Fedora 11 installation on that box.
I did install the pre-requisite libraries as per the release notes.

Now to migrate my Internet users and Discussion databases...
