...for your response Thomas. I posted in this forum because people are (generally) very willing to help and I was hoping to find someone who has had exactly the same problem. Going directly to a microsoft forum would not necessarily get the question to the people that matter - the Notes administrators/developers.

The majority of people using Microsoft products would, in general, not have had any exposure to Domino so, in answer to your question.... Yes, I very much expect to get an answer to this question on this forum because it is a question about why Notes would treat an outlook mail differently.
