Subject: Strange problem with encrypted database...
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Database
Technical Area: Security
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.3
Reproducible: Always
We have a strange situation with an encrypted application database. Long story short: We have an application which appears to have been encrypted with the server ID by a previous developer.
I have a local copy of the datbase on my client. I can switch to various server IDs and finally found the one that appears to be able to access the application (all other IDs report "this database has local access protection"). The problem is, the server ID that appears to at least now be able to read the database returns the error "You are not authorized to access that database".
To me, this seems to indicate that I have the correct Server ID which was used to encrypt the database, but the ACL does not contain this server and is denying its access. I even tried adding the Server name in my Local Names.nsf Group "LocalDomainServers" group.
I tried firing up the Admin Client to enable "Full Access Control", but that still won't allow me to open or access the database (in hopes of changing the ACL).
Any magic way to make a new copy of this database, in hopes that I could place it back on the server and take Full Access Control to modify the ACL there?
