Transfer Directory & Upgrade

I'd like to do something similar but I'd like to transfer to a new server that will be the new Directory.

Whilst I prepare what will be the new admin server, is it possible to upgrade to the new 8.5 directory structure on the new server and still replicate the directory to the old 7.0.2 server?

I'd like to also receive a copy of those presentations!
