Most likely it is a relative URL issue

You are using a relative URL, and I think when you edit a document and open it for reading you will find the relative URL points to a different place. Load up a tool like Firebux in firefox and you can see the error, will probably be resource not found or something like that.

Try hardcoding the URL to see if it fixes it, obviously don't use that as your solution, just to see if that is your issue.
